Big Reds News · New changes in Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at JW Sexton

Exciting news in the announcement of coach Dan Boggan as the new assistant principal.

We are sad at the departure of former Assistant Principal Broderick Williams who was shifted to Eastern High School. This direction opened the door for Dan Boggan and also changed the position in the athletic department.

The new athletic director is 1989 Sexton alumni and 17 year health/physical education teacher/coach Chris Henderson. Henderson was the assistant athletic director last year and says” he is excited to be moved into this position-athletics is my passion and hope that the transition is smooth and continues moving in the right direction”.

Henderson was part of the 1987 wrestling state championship team at Sexton and won 3 individual state wrestling titles at Sexton High School. Henderson is one of two Sexton wrestlers to win three individual state titles for the Big Reds. He went on to wrestle at division 1 college powerhouse Edindoro University and was graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan University where he earned his bachelors degree in education, before returning home to teach and coach at Sexton High School. Henderson earned his masters degree in education administration at Grand Valley State University and has enjoyed his career in education.

JW Sexton will continue to build on the success of the athletic programs, and work to increase participation in the sports we have at Sexton. We will continue to set goals and strive to keep the long tradition and success we have had over the past 70+ years at JW Sexton High School.
