The Sexton Wrestling program advanced to MHSAA Individual Regionals with Jose Medina 285 weight division. First year Head coach Jeff Howard says “the challenging year has brought out the best in these young athletes, they showed true grit and dedication as they worked hard to stay active and compete in a very tough covid year”.
Jose Medina lost in the “blood round”-consolations of the regional individual finals hosted by Lansing Sexton and held at Don Johnson Fieldhouse, but as a junior is excited for what next year holds for him and his team.
Lansing school district athletic director Chris Henderson comments on the Lansing schools commitment to allowing winter and spring sports participation, saying “it has been very gratifying for all the student-athletes, parents and we have done a spectacular job in maintaining the safety of our student-athletes, parents and community. We have tested and continue to hold a high standard for our district and the covid protocols and guidelines established by the MDHHS/MHSAA”.
